The EW10 Critical Care Unit project is a total refurbishment of the 10th floor of St. Thomas’ East Wing. The project has been established in response to the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and is funded by NHS England to increase Critical Care capacity.

About the project

Llewelyn Davies was the Lead Architect and Design Team coordinator for this ambitious project, which aims to provide 15 state-of-the-art Intensive Care beds.

The project was implemented on the 10th floor of a fully operational hospital, incorporating a major infrastructure upgrade of mechanical and electrical systems while testing and applying new COVID-19 design guidelines as they emerged.
