The IBRD-funded domestic terminal for the southern seaside resort of Beihai was designed to accommodate 3 million passengers a year, with speed and ease of construction as priorities, whilst embodying a memorable image in the form of its external envelope. Construction of the 27,000 sq m terminal and stub pier was based upon standardised, modularised components fabricated in the UK and sized accordingly for container shipment to China.
