Shenzhen Airport Authority declared Llewelyn Davies the winner of the International Design Competition in 1997 to design and develop a new 60,000 sq m Domestic Terminal at Shenzhen International Airport to handle 7.2 million passengers by 2000. The project was completed and officially opened in 2000 as scheduled and arguably, the new Terminal 2 at Shenzhen Airport has led the way forward on the phenomenal growth of airport developments throughout China since.
