Public Inquiry opens for Our Hospital, Jersey

The 5-day Public Inquiry for the Our Hospital Project has just taken place in Jersey. As lead architects, Llewelyn Davies provided key evidence throughout the Inquiry, led by Stephen Featherstone, Project Director and supported by Robert Etchell, Lead Clinical Director.

A decision by the Minister of the Environment on the outcome of the full planning application is scheduled for late May. Subject to that decision, the £550+m new hospital campus is ready to commence construction in late 2022, with an anticipated completion date in 2026. Llewelyn Davies was originally appointed in 2020 to design the hospital at Overdale, a plateau that sits 60m above the Town of St Helier, enjoying wonderful views across the southern coastline of Jersey. Informed by salutogenic and biophilic design principles, the new hospital will replace the existing hospital which is no longer able to support modern healthcare services.
