Meet the architects series:

Bridging the gap between education & practice

Fadwa Mezughi, a champion mentor at the University of Westminster and co-founder of the Professional Architect Mentors (PAM) program, discusses her role in helping emerging architects.

Fadwa discusses her role as Champion Mentor at the University of Westminster and PAM initatives

She is on a mission to reshape the journey from student to qualified part 3 professional. Her insights, shared in this interview for the “Meet the Architects Series”, cut straight to the core of what is needed to sustain and diversify the architectural profession.

Fadwa’s deep involvement with initiatives like the University of Westminster’s “Champion Mentors” and the PAM program stems from a personal experience; navigating the “stark gap” between university and architectural practice. She found invaluable support from Llewelyn Davies during her Part 2 to Part 3 studies, an experience she carries into her mentoring.

Her dedication extends beyond simply offering guidance; it’s about empowering students to manage expectations, understand professional realities, and integrate their learning with their work. As she notes, success is built not on flawless execution, but through experience, support, and continual learning. By sharing her own journey—including mistakes and growth—she helps students build confidence and become stronger members of the professional community.
