Phase 1 of the new University College Hospital, completed in 2005 and providing over 76,000 s.m. of space, comprises a seventeen-storey Tower of Ward accommodation containing approximately 680 beds, a Podium Block containing out-patient facilities plus operating theatres, an Atrium providing entrance facilities and reception and a two storey basement within which are located radiodiagnostic, radiotherapy and related facilities.

In Phase 2, a four-storey block with basements will provide the new Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Wing for Women.

Both phases were designed for the BCJV Consortium (Balfour Beatty, Amec, Haden Young).
