Llewelyn Davies Yeang, in association with Andrew Lee King Fun Associates, was commissioned to design the University of Hong Kong’s new teaching and research building for complementary and alternative medicine.
Phase one, a 16,000 m2 new building, will house laboratories, teaching spaces, offices and common areas. The project is planned for expansion, and future phases will be developed based on funding ability.
The project will be an exemplar of green design for research and teaching facilities, with its design integrated with the local ecosystem. It will make extensive use of planting and passive low energy techniques to reduce the building’s energy consumption while improving the quality of the learning and research environment.
The signature design of the project will create a landmark building that will enhance the University’s campus and stature.
