The building brings together the principles of the bioclimatic approach to sustainable design of tall buildings developed by Ken Yeang International.
Key features:
Vertical Landscaping introduced into the building façade and skycourts. The planting rises from a three storey planted berm base, on one side of the building, then spirals upwards across the face of the building using recessed terraces.
Passive low-energy features: Windows facing the hot sun have external louvers as solar-shading to reduce heat gain into the internal spaces. Cooler elevations, without solar insolation, have unshielded curtain walled glazing for views and maximize natural lighting.
Lift lobbies are naturally ventilated, sun lit with views to outside, and do not require any fire protection pressurisation (i.e. low energy lobby). All staircases and toilets are also naturally ventilated. The sunroof is a skeletal frame for future solar cells to provide back-up energy source. BAS (building automation system) is an active intelligent building feature used in the building for energy saving.
